Betting on Hard Work: David’s Story
“I always knew I could work hard! I just needed someone to show me how to bet on myself.”
Indiana · Parent-approved · Revenue on record
High schoolers start real businesses. We give them proven hustles, mentors, and a reason to go all in.
Free. Grades 9-12.
Who we are
Students don’t need more theory. They pick a real hustle, get a mentor at school, log every sale in one dashboard, and compete for $150,000 every summer. A project of Sagamore Institute, Inc.
What it is
01
Pick a proven hustle. Lawn, detailing, cookies, sitting. Launch this weekend, not next year.
02
Mentors who have already done it. Fail. Iterate. Keep the one that pays.
03
Real customers. Real revenue. Logged. That number is how you compete.
Summer competition · Jun 1 – Aug 1
Two ways to win, both on sales: $5,000 each to the top 20, and $500 each to the first 100 to reach $2,500.

Straight talk
Here’s what students say.
“I already have a job”
A job pays for time. A hustle pays for value. Clock out of a job, pay stops. Build a hustle, value keeps paying.
“Seems too good to be true”
Skepticism is smart. Don’t take our word for it. Hear it from the governor.
Gov. Braun on HSH
“I don't have a good business idea”
Good. You don’t need one. We give proven hustles. Pick one. Test it. Learn by doing.
“Too busy with school and sports”
So are our top performers. Five focused hours beats ten hours scrolling.
The answer
You don’t invent a business here. Catering, detailing, lawns, treats. Pick one, run it, get paid. These students did.
